Chris Sorensen and Bobby are Vegas-Bound for 2015 Longines FEI World Cup Final

Chris Sorensen of Caledon, Ont. will be among the 42 top show jumping athletes from 20 nations heading to Las Vegas, Nev. to attend the 2015 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final from April 15-19.

Sorensen qualified through the North American East Coast League after racking up 38 points to finish as the second-placed Canadian and 19th overall out of 114 athletes.

Joining Sorensen in Vegas will be Bobby, a 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding he co-owns with Britland Hughes. Together, they have enjoyed tremendous success over the past few years, including being named the alternate for the Canadian Show Jumping Team at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. In addition, Sorensen and Bobby have represented Canada on four nations’ cup teams, and helped Canada win the 2014 CSIO4* $80,000 Furusiyya FEI Nations’ Cup in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.

Leading up to the Final, Sorensen and Bobby had an impressive world cup season, highlighted by a third place finish in the $50,000 Peel Maryborough/Aviva World Cup Qualifier at the CSI2*-W Canadian Show Jumping Tournament in Sorensen’s hometown of Caledon in September 2014.

The first round of the Final will get underway on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. PDT. Round II will follow on April 17, once again starting at 7 p.m. At the completion of the second round, the top 30 athletes will be invited forward into the first leg of the two-part Final III at 12 p.m. on April 19. From there, the top 20 athletes will go head-to-head in the second and final leg to determine the final placings.
