How will EC ensure that no one coaches at an EC sanctioned event without holding a Coach Status?

Starting July 01, 2023, Athletes must identify their coach (name and EC sportlicence) on entry forms for all levels of EC sanctioned competition.  All competitions are now required to report the coach name and coach EC sportlicence # for each competition result submitted.  Coaches at Gold and Platinum competitions must hold active Licensed Coach Status while coaches with athletes at Bronze and Silver competitions must hold Registered Coach Status at minimum.

Senior (over 18) athletes may indicate that they are self-coached, EC officials may review a person’s coach status information if it assists them in navigating specific situations, and EC will solicit and appreciate feedback from organizers, and officials, with emphasis on “onsite” procedure.

Coaches who do not hold the applicable status, must complete a Temporary Coach Status form, for each competition with athletes in attendance, and must submit the form and fee to the competition organizer.

Please see the phased-in timeline at equestrian.ca for formal competition and program access requirements.
