2023 GRITTY Awards

Awards will be presented in the indoor arena at 2:45 PM on Day 3 of the camp (Sunday, October 8, 2023).

The “GRITTIEST Award”

This award is designed to recognize a GRIT athlete who has demonstrated the most GRIT throughout their time on the team. Within the equestrian community, this athlete excels in all aspects and demonstrates outstanding dedication and commitment to the program as a whole. 

The selected individual brings excellence to the team and beyond. This athlete has demonstrated that through consistency they can excel to lengths beyond their initial goals. This athlete has shown the most improvement and continues to grow in all aspects of the GRIT program. 

The Recipient of this award will be selected by the Program Manager, Performance Advisor, and GRIT Technical Advisors, but nominations by fellow athletes are welcome. 

The “Olympian’s Award”

This award is designed to recognize the athlete who has demonstrated exemplary horsemanship, sportsmanship,  participation, and dedication to the GRIT Fall Training Camp. 

This athlete has demonstrated significant improvement over the course of three days of training. 

The recipient of this award will be selected by the GRIT Technical Advisors, Christilot Boylen and Ian Millar.

The “Whole Hearted Award”

For considering the holistic athlete combination when training and planning their season by maintaining a current YTP, Work Log, and Gap Analysis.  The winner of this award gets a new Polar Equine H10 Heart rate monitor sponsored by Program Advisor, Ruth Allum.

The “Golden Pitchfork Award”

This award will recognize the GRIT athlete who has maintained a standard of organization and cleanliness during their stay at Adena Springs North throughout the duration of the Fall Training Camp. 

This athlete has managed to keep their horses’ stall and the barn in general to a gold standard. They have kept their supplies and equipment neat as well as support their fellow teammates in maintaining this standard of cleanliness. 

The recipient of this award will be selected by the OE Manager of Sport and Adena Springs Barn Manager, but nominations from fellow athletes are welcome.
