Equine Requirements
- Coggins test within the past 6 months
- Proof of up-to-date vaccinations
- A Statement of Health must be signed by a licensed veterinarian within 30 days of arrival at NW Stables LP, documenting that the horse has:
- Received regular and consistent vaccination against Equine Influenza and EHV-1/4 with the most recent booster being within 180 days (as per USEF GR 845) and not within 7 days.
- Not shown symptoms of or been treated for EHV-1/4 within the past 28 days.
- Not been at a facility under quarantine for EHV-1/4 or exposed to any horses showing symptoms of EHV-1/4 within the past 28 days.
- Current vaccination against WNV, EEE, WEE, Tetanus and Rabies
- 7 days leading up to the event and when at Adena, horses’ temperatures should be recorded twice daily. If the temperature is over 38.5C or 101.3F horse should not enter the property or leave
SHIP IN
- Horses will be stabled in Barn 8 (Race Barn)
- Stall Chart (Coming Soon!)
- Horses must arrive Thursday, October 5, 2023
- Trailers remaining on the property must be parked along the race track behind Barn 8
- Upon arrival athlete and horses’ names can be found on their corresponding stall doors
- Upon arrival, visitors are to proceed to the main gate. Follow signage to get to Barn 8 for stabling and trailer parking
- Barn hours are from 8 AM to 7 PM seven days per week.
- Staff hours are 7 AM to 4 PM seven days per week.
- Riding is permitted between 5 PM and 7 PM provided there is an adult accompanying the rider.
- Washrooms are located in Barn 8 (Race Barn) and beside the indoor arena at Barn 9 (Show Barn).
- Lunging is permitted in the round pen behind Barn 8 and in the outdoor arena upon request.
- Turnout is permitted in several marked GRIT paddocks behind Barn 8. It is up to the discretion of GRIT athletes to organize turnout times.
- No additional guests other than those disclosed to h.gregory@ontarioequestrian.ca prior to arriving on the property
HORSE CARE
- OE will provide each horse with a box stall from Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8, 2023, with 4 bags of complimentary shavings
- Additional bags of shavings are available upon request at $9.00 per bag
- The care of GRIT horses is the responsibility of the athlete and/or their support team
- Grooms are permitted but must be listed in the athlete’s guest list
- Athletes are required to bring hay and feed for their horses
- Athletes are required to bring pitchforks
- Athletes are required to bring skip buckets
- Athletes are responsible for mucking and maintaining their horses’ stalls and areas surrounding
- Dirty shavings are to be emptied in the green wagon at the entrance of Barn 8
- Athletes are required to empty their stalls upon departure from Adena Springs
- Athletes are required to bring water buckets and items to secure water buckets to their horses’ stall
- Athletes are required to organize their own night check and arrive back on the property at the time indicated in their RSVP Form
- Athletes are required to fill out their stall card with contact details for the horse owner and veterinary details
- Wash stalls are available in the wash bay area in Barn 8
- Grazing space is available in front of Barn 8
ENGAGEMENT EXPECTATIONS
- Athletes are required to be present and engaged throughout each event whether they be unmounted or mounted. You will learn a great deal from observing other riders while they are being coached
- Please ensure that GRIT equipment is used throughout the duration of the camp
- Please ensure that GRIT apparel is worn throughout the duration of the camp
- Visitors, ensure you bring your GRIT folding chair for auditing purposes
- There is no photography or film of animals living on the property
- Please ensure that you keep your stall area organized and clean
GUESTS
- A list of all training camp guests will be at the front gate during sign-in
