Members of Toronto Police Services Mounted Unit are mourning the loss of Viscount, a 19-year-old Percheron-cross gelding who died on Christmas day.
Viscount had served the Toronto Police for 14 years in all aspects of mounted police work, including crowd management, search, ceremonial, general patrol and community engagement. He is remembered as being a kind and friendly horse that was easy to manage in the stable and sure footed on the road. Viscount was among the most senior police mounts and would have been retired in the next year or two.
Viscount will be missed by all and was a very proud serving member of the Toronto Police Mounted Unit.
The Ontario Equestrian Federations offers its condolences to the Toronto Police Services Mounted Unit.
