Canada’s Junior Rider, Kaitlyn Blum of Gormley, ON, and Carnell, her 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding by Carnute, qualified to move onto the Individual Final Saturday morning at the North American Junior & Young Rider Championships after completing three rounds with 34 faults today in the Rolex Stadium. Team-mates Mikala Chesler of Orangeville, ON and her mount Ilian de Taute, Ruth Armstrong’s 19-year-old Selle Francaise stallion by Narcos II, and Adrien Vilcini of Peterborough, ON and John Jamieson’s, I AM, a 16-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, gave their best efforts over the course improving each round. Both riders have qualified for Friday’s Farewell Class however only Vilcini will compete.

In the Young Rider division the team finished 5th overall and all four riders made it through three challenging rounds to each make it through to Saturday’s Individual Finals, where the top 25 athletes will compete.
“This Young Rider Team finished in 5th place today with scores improving from the first round to the second. They managed to qualify all four riders for the Individual Final, which is hard to do,” said Moffatt. “I’m looking forward to seeing them take what they have learned so far and apply it in the ring on Saturday.”
Competing in the Young Rider Individual Final on Saturday will be; Lexus Arbuckle of Guelph, ON riding Castor Van De Kranenburg, her 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding by Kimball; Jacqueline Steffens of Harriston, ON riding Double C Stables’s, Quercus Van Generhese, a 13-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding by Darco; Muhammad Itani on his horse Tax Free, an 11-year-old Selle Luxembourgeois gelding by Toulon and Hayley MacKinnon and her mount, Class Action, Synergy Farm’s 19-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding by Libero.
