Ontario equestrians honoured at national awards gala

The Ontario Equestrian Federation would like to congratulate the outstanding individuals recognized at Equine Canada’s prestigious Awards Gala, which took place on Friday, March 27, in Gatineau, QC.

Recipients from Ontario included:

National Awards

Volunteer of the Year – Dr. Mary Bell of Puslinch, ON.

Lifetime Achievement Award – Mary Anne Laframboise of Ottawa, ON.

Canadian Breeder of the Year –  Charlotte Schickedanz of Markham, ON.

Coaching Awards

Equine Canada/NCCP Coach Developer Award for Program Delivery – Danielle Yaghijdan of Claremont, ON.

Breed Sport Awards

Morgan Horse of the Year – HSH Smooth Operator, owned by Emily Gaynor of Kitchener, ON.

Welsh Pony of the Year – Barkway Topaz, owned by Kirsten Brunner of Hillsburgh, ON.

“Ontario’s equine community has so many talented people who contribute so much to this sport,” says Dianne Graham, executive director of the Ontario Equestrian Federation. “It was both humbling and inspiring to see them come together to be recognized.”
