Prepare to Saddle Up with Your Ticket to Ride at the Royal Winter Fair

Ticket To RideHorse enthusiasts who have always wanted to try horseback riding can pick up their Ticket to Ride at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair through a new program offered by the Ontario Equestrian Federation.

During the Royal, which runs from Nov. 7-16, the Ontario Equestrian Federation will be launching its new Ticket to Ride program in partnership the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and Equine Guelph’s EquiMania! Through this new initiative, horse enthusiasts interested in trying riding will receive a FREE introductory riding lesson or introduction to horses at participating OEF member riding facilities.

To help riders get the best possible first experience, the Ontario Equestrian Federation is working with members of its Horse Facilities program. This voluntary program is made up of member stables that agree to keep their property in good condition, make safety a top priority in their riding programs and ensure their horses and ponies are in good health and are suitable for use in riding lessons. Participating stables are offering a FREE assessment lesson, discounted lesson package or FREE “introduction to horses” barn tour.

“One of the most important factors when choosing a place to ride is to look for a safe environment with knowledgeable instructors who use horses that are suitable for new riders,” says Pam Coburn, program administrator for the OEF’s facilities, coaching and recreation departments. “The Ticket to Ride program takes the guess work out of selecting a facility and gives people who are passionate about horses a chance to explore the sport of riding.”

To get your Ticket to Ride, simply visit the Ontario Equestrian Federation booth in Hall D, just outside the President’s Choice Animal Theatre. A staff member will assess your needs and refer you to a stable in your area.
