Canada invited to participate in endurance test event for 2014 WEG

Canada has been invited to participate in the 2013 endurance test event for the 2014 World Equestrian Games, which will be a 120-km 2* event to be held at Sartilly, France on Aug. 16, 2013.

The Endurance Canada International Committee (ECI) invites riders to declare they are interested in competing in the 2013 Test Event by sending an e-mail by April 19, 2013 at 4 p.m. (Ottawa time) to Wendy Gayfer, Program Coordinator Non-Olympic FEI Disciplines, WGayfer@equinecanada.ca, indicating they would like to be considered as a participant, as well as naming the two grooms they would like to nominate.Canada is eligible for either of the following, depending on how many entries are received by the Organizing Committee (OC):

  • If more than 60 entries, then one per nation, plus one based on the updated FEI ranked list until the maximum is reached;
  • If less than 60, then two per nation, plus one based on the updated FEI ranked list until the maximum is reached.
The Endurance Canada International Committee will select, from the names received, the Canadian riders whose names will be sent to the 2013 Test Event OC for consideration.
 
The selection process that will be followed will be:
1. First, those riders who are 4* qualified for the 2014 WEG in order of FEI ranking;
2. Secondly, those riders who are 3* qualified in order of FEI ranking;
3. Thirdly, those riders who are 2* qualified in order of FEI ranking.

Riders please note that this event is a 2* event and therefore will not qualify as a Certificate of Capability for WEG 2014.

The riders attending the 2013 WEG test event will be accompanied by Chef d’Equipe Maura Leahy and Team Veterinarian Dr. Glenn Sinclair, DVM.

The declared riders’ list will be posted on April 22, 2013 and names will be sent to the event OC on or before April 26, 2013.
