Nominations Now Open for the 2013 Equine Canada National Awards

With the competition season winding down, now is the perfect time to reflect on the tremendous achievements of the past year and recognize those who were outstanding in their field.

Equine Canada’s national awards recognition program celebrates the impressive achievements of individuals, equines and organizations who have contributed to the growth and success of our community.

This is the perfect opportunity for you to play a role in recognizing those you feel have made a significant impact in the Canadian equestrian community by nominating them for a national award.

Recipients of these prestigious awards will be honoured at the Equine Canada Annual Awards Gala which will be held at the Radisson Winnipeg on Friday, February 7, 2014 as part of the Equine Canada Annual Convention.

The following is a summary of the national awards open to nominations from the membership:

Canadian Bred Horse of the Year Award 

Presented to the breeder or owner of Canadian bred horse who, by virtue of an outstanding national or international performance or competition record, has enhanced the reputation and visibility of Canadian bred horses.

Equestrian of the Year Award-The Doctor George Jacobsen Trophy

Presented to the equestrian athlete who has excelled in equestrian competition for the current year while demonstrating exceptional talent, horsemanship, sportsmanship and dedication to the sport, vision and mission of EC.

Canadian Breeder of the Year Award

Recognizes a Canadian breeder for a lifetime contribution to a horse breed, who by his or her efforts has improved the quality of Canadian bred horses and/or enhanced the reputation of Canadian bred horses.

Equine Canada Media Award-The Susan Jane Anstey Trophy   

Presented to an exceptional individual or organization who has delivered outstanding media coverage that has served to enhance the image of Canadian equine interests to the Canadian public.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Recognizes and acknowledges the hard work and dedication of an individual who generously give their time in order to support the goals and vision of Equine Canada.

Junior Equestrian of the Year Award-The Gillian Wilson Trophy

Presented to a junior equestrian athlete who has excelled in equestrian competition for the current year while demonstrating exceptional talent, horsemanship, sportsmanship and dedication to the sport, vision and mission of EC.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognizes an individual whose contributions to the Canadian equestrian community are considered exceptional by their peers and whose long-term service and dedication have contributed directly to the ongoing growth and development of Canadian equine sport and industry.
