The OE Youth Bursary supports young equestrians from all disciplines who are OE members, full-time high school students, and who demonstrate that financial resources or personal hardship are a significant impediment to reaching their equestrian goals. Five – $1,000 bursaries will be awarded in 2023 to the recipients selected by the OE Youth Bursary Selection Committee.
To qualify for OE’s Youth Bursary, applicants must:
- be enrolled full-time in an Ontario high school and no older than 17 as of December 31, 2023.
- the applicant and coach must hold a valid 2023 OE membership.
A qualified candidate must submit the following:
- a completed and signed application form including the release and publicity agreement, and applicant package before the deadline of 4:00 pm February 10, 2023;
- a 500-word essay describing:
- the applicant’s interest and experience with horses; and
- what the applicant intends to do with the bursary funds if they are a successful candidate;
- a description of volunteer activities;
- a digital photo of the applicant with their horse (will be used for recipients);
- a letter of reference from the applicant’s coach, trainer, or clinician with whom you have worked during the past 12 months; and
- a copy of the applicant’s current (i.e. fall 2022) interim report card
